Yoga Day Logo in Rogan Art by Ashish Kansara
Gujarat Samachar newspaper clipping dated June 21, 2024 Bhuj, Thursday:
Keeping the theme of June 21st World Yoga Day in mind, an artisan from Kutch has carved the World Yoga Day logo using the 1500-year-old Rogan art form. In his 2014 address to the United Nations, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested June 21st as World Yoga Day. Following this, since 2015, June 21st—which is also the longest day of the year—is celebrated every year as World Yoga Day.

It Took 25 Days to Prepare the Artwork: Objective is to Take the Message of Yoga to a Global Level
Ashish Kansara, a Rogan artisan from Madhapar village in Bhuj taluka, has prepared this replica depicting the Yoga Day logo using Rogan art. The artisan completed this masterpiece in 25 days using the 400-year-old Rogan art technique, and its size is 15 by 18 inches.
The specialty of this artwork is that because it is crafted through Rogan art, the design can last for up to 200 years. The artisan from Kutch completed this piece in about 20 to 25 days.
Rogan artist Ashish Kansara has been associated with Rogan art for the last 26 years. Although Rogan art is considered an incredibly difficult art form, and most traditional Rogan artisans majorly create pieces like the ‘Tree of Life’, Ashishbhai has previously crafted unique artworks in Rogan art such as Chandrayaan-3, Ram Darbar, Bharat Mata, and the Ram Mandir.
Now, by creating the World Yoga Day logo, he has given everyone a pleasant surprise. According to him, the prime objective behind preparing this artwork is to ensure that the message of Yoga reaches a global scale.
